Hanneli’s business ventures revolve largely around premium wine production in South Africa.

Her involvement includes ownership of the La Motte Wine Estate outside Franschhoek in the Cape Winelands and co-ownership of Leopard’s Leap Family Vineyards, also in the Franschhoek Valley. Furthermore, she has an interest in the wine warehousing and distribution centre Historic Wines of the Cape in Montagu Gardens, Cape Town, as well as the national South African wine distribution company, Meridian Wine Merchants.

As proposed and selected by the Group of Masters of the Commanderie de Bordeaux – a highly influential international wine association – Hanneli held the prestigious title of the first Maȋtre of the first branch of the French Commanderie de Bordeaux established and opened in South Africa. This institution represents a platform for wine education in its broadest sense and celebrates values such as friendship, cultural enrichment and charity work. The South African division of the institution was established at La Motte.

Hanneli’s dedication to quality, notably also in the creation of distinctive wines, has culminated in the crafting of a premium wine – Hanneli R – that embodies her constant strive towards excellence and serves as La Motte’s flagship wine.
